The sports department has been busy during Term 2 organising many opportunities for our young people to be active. The term started with the Cross Country Slime Run which was an enjoyable afternoon of impressive athletic performances and lots of laughs as students were on the receiving end of the slime. However, the students got their revenge on some of the teachers as a result of fundraising almost $7000 for our sports department.
Our Year 4-12 Athletics Carnivals also provided an opportunity for students to display their athletic ability, show great sportsmanship and passion for their house during the lunchtime ‘chant off’ between Bates and Andrews. Our Wednesday afternoon Sports Development sessions (Primary) and Tuesday morning Sports Academy (Year 4-12) were well attended this term as students engaged in additional opportunities to be active and develop their sporting ability in Basketball, Netball and Touch Football. The junior Sports Development Program will recommence next term with a focus sport of Touch Football.
In addition to our regular weekly inter-school sport we had several representative teams compete against other schools this term at the ASSA Basketball Gala Day, Vicki Wilson Cup Netball and Gold Coast Schools Cup Touch Football. Students also continue to represent our College on Monday night at Palm Beach Touch Football and Wednesday night at South Coast Netball. We are proud of the way our students represented our College at each of these events this semester.
